Autumn Spice and all the Cozy Vibes

Fall inspired dog treats for your pups

Fall's here, the air's getting crisp, and soon we'll see pups rocking sweaters and playing in piles of leaves. But honestly, the best part? All the yummy treats that come with the season! Some of the top flavors this time of year are pumpkin, apple, and cinnamon. While you're sipping on your pumpkin spice latte, your pup can enjoy their own pumpkin spice treat!

Check out these easy, pup-approved recipes you can whip up this fall. We're using honey, apples, pumpkin, and cinnamon as our go-to fall flavors. Wondering why we picked these and why they're good for your dog? Here's the scoop:

  • Honey: It's a safe sweetener for dogs, but just like with any sweet treat, moderation is key to avoid weight gain.

  • Apples: Packed with vitamins A, C, and K, high in fiber for gut health, super hydrating, and the skins have antioxidants.

  • Pumpkin: Make sure it's pure pumpkin, not the pie filling! It's loaded with fiber, vitamins A, C, E, potassium, and iron.

  • Cinnamon: Just for that awesome fall flavor and scent. It's safe in small amounts— definitely not the cinnamon challenge for your pup!

Apple Pie Crunchy Treats

yields about 25 servings (depends on the size of your treats)

  • ½ tablespoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 cup plain applesauce

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • Water (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix until a smooth dough forms.

  2. If needed, add water one teaspoon at a time to make the dough easier to work with.

  3. Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness.

  4. Cut the dough into your desired treat shapes. Using a bone or fall-themed cookie cutter is a fun idea.

  5. Gather any leftover dough, roll it out again, and repeat until all dough is used.
